Hi everyone, I'm new here - I don't think this forum existed when I last had an Epi. Anyway, I'm here to ask for your help/expertise. I've been looking at a Casino in natural finish, with a 17th fret neck join, and a six digit serial number. Various sites suggest that a six digit serial is late 80s Fujigen-made, and the inlay logo looks like Japanese ones of that era, but the headstock has a pattern of joins which look a bit like a Korean headstock. I read an older post on the Gibson site claiming that the early Korean ones had six digits - I've not heard that anywhere else though.

Here's the guitar

and here is the back of the headstock

Thanks for any knowledge you can share!

Cheers, Matt.

Thanks! Re the scarf joint, I saw a few like this Peerless one:

Other photos show a Peerless serial beginning with R (sorry, as a new member I can't post a link, but you can get it from the image URL if you replace CasinoJ.jpg with CasinoHI.html)

Thanks Davis - not yet, I'm still sorting out the details. The store advertising it said they don't know exactly what it is, and it's reasonably priced so I'll likely go ahead anyway.

Also - from looking around, is it correct to say that all Japanese Casinos have maple necks? It's mentioned in the spec linked above (thanks Paruwi) and every picture I can find. The one I'm trying to buy is pretty much identical to the Peerless 2005 one above, but how would it have a six digit serial?

Nice looking Casino. Hope it all works out for you. I'm enjoying mine and it's differences from my others. The guy I got if from is a huge Beatles fan. Wish I had a shot of the stage he had set up.

All Vox amps, Gretsch like Georges, Hofner bass, and Casino like Lennon's along with a Black Pearl Ludwig drum set with the Beatles logo on the head of the kick. You can see part of another on the wall.

He had two Casinos so I got one in trade for my B B King Lucille. Good swap.

Well, I'm not sure what it is, but it was a good price so I've bought it. Details to come I guess!
