Hi folks,

I'm looking at Probuckers, and there's something interesting on Reverb - screenshots below:

They look like 'Filtertron'-inspired - partially-covered humbuckers.

I haven't found any mention of these anywhere else.

Are they a legit variation?
If yes, what sort of sound do they give?

Cheers,
Stuart.

New ones for sale anywhere else than on the Gibson-Epiphone website are fakes. I wrote to Gibson and they told me they never sell through 3rd parties, except the official Gibson dealers.

If legit ..... they would be out of a " Blackback Custom "

The ones I have use gold trim. I've never seen silver ones.

Thanks all, I'm assuming they're fake at this point.

@Darkness, can you describe the kind of tone they have, compared to standard covered humbuckers?

Darkness might have solved it!!!!

not necessarily fake.... if they're in the states, used and from a private seller on reverb.

If they were NEW and from a Chinese retailer on eBay... then fake for sure.

@syco solved it, I just posted my Pic. I've never seen them in nickel or chrome as I said, only in gold.

@EssCee I don't hear a serious difference from their covered counterparts. I also have a Koa custom with covered Pro Buckers (slightly different wiring) and maybe the covered are a shade darker, but nothing that would be noticed in a blind test.
