I like the Ibanez Iceman, I think it's a cool-looking shape.
So late last year, when I found a cheap one at a local store, I bought it. It's an Ibanez PS40, the most basic and entry-level Paul Stanley signature model, with dot inlays and no body binding:

I didn't particularly want the Paul Stanley stuff on it, I just wanted an Iceman, so I took off the truss rod cover, the pick guard and that bat wing-looking thing below the tailpiece:

Hmm, not looking terribly interesting. You can barely make out the shape against a black t-shirt. This won't do.

How much to get body binding added, I ask a guy. A lot, he tells me. How about faking it with some pin-striping around the edge instead? Not quite as much, he reckons, although still a fair bit. What the hell, let's do it.

Now, remember the Gibson Les Paul Studio Hot Rod? A black Les Paul Studio with some really cool pin-striping, two blue stripes sandwiching a white stripe, looking kind of like a Star Wars light sabre? I ask the guy to do something like that, with a funky design down below the bridge, and here's what came back:

Yeah, that's more like it!
He even put a little monogram on the back for me:

And that's how I came to have one wicked cool Iceman.
