So I recently acquired this "vintage" SG (its a 99). I took it apart for cleaning and noticed that it has Seymour Duncan pickups. So which model SD's are they? And it also has been rewired w/500k pots. So I was curious if anyone can identify the type of wiring job? You know is it 50's wiring or...? And finally why can't I stop playing this guitar!!?

If you paid Epi money for that SG and it came with those pickups you scored, those are Seth Lovers and are excellent and expensive. Congrats

looks like normal modern wiring to me but some wires are covering the lugs to see them clearly. If you put the toggle switch in the middle and roll one volume down you should get no sound at all. another feature is the tone knob should be useless under 5 IMO an no effect on the volume.

I paid $170 for the guitar with hardcase. I will test the toggle switch and tone knobs and report back my findings.

Well ... to put in bluntly, you just stole a guitar. A friggin' nice one at that. Aren't you ashamed ?

Haha ... nice, really nice. If I was to get another SG, that is the one I'd be looking for.

I've heard of Seymour Duncan but I have never heard of Seth Lover. The guitar does sound awesome through my Line 6 Valve amp

Well that is good to hear! Trust me usually I pay to much for guitars.

He designed the original PAF pickups for Gibson, later Fender's WRHB's and then worked with Seymour Duncan, including the Seth Lover's which are based on the original PAF's.

Great score. Seth Lover pickups are very well thought of. I'd require to 50's style, and beta nice tube amp to complete the package.

Jesse James wore a mask lol!!
I don't think you can buy the pickups for that amount of $$, with a really sweeeeet finish, & a hard shell case:wow:
Best deal I've heard of for quite a while:cheers:
