I bought this off eBay as "refurbished." I did a few searches about refurbished guitars. As you can expect, some people had good experiences and some had bad. The price was $220 US (173 UK/291 CAN/197 Euro) for a $399 (314/527/357) guitar, so I took a chance.

Here's what the dealer wrote when I asked:
This one was labeled "No Visible Repair" which means the refurbisher didn't have to [do] anything to it. They just inspected it, set it up and sent it on to us.

It arrived today. @Paruwi will approve of the color.

I may have hit the photo limit. See next post for the "defect.".

So what's wrong with it?
Neck is straight

Small scratch on the back (probably happened at the store)
Moderate scratches on the pickguard above the 6th string. Someone was probably flailing at it or showing off with windmill spins. I hope he hit his hand on the basswood body. Man, this is a solid chunk of lumber.

On the pickguard, where it meets the neck on the treble side, there is a sliver of white sticking out from teh middle layer of the 3-ply guard as if it wasn't trimmed properly. No big deal.

But this was the problem I found (photo taken after I fixed it)

Sorry for the partial focus. As you see the volume knobs are now on the left and the tones are on the right. Out of the box, the volume knobs were on the bottom row (as oriented in the photo) and the tones were on top. So when I turned what I thought was the bridge vol knob, nothing happened. I figured it out and swapped the knobs.

Maybe the factory QC guy was new or under time pressure and didn't figure this out (or care), so he just put it on the defective line. I mean, if this is the only problem, then I got a hell of a deal.

Anyway, I'm going to clean her up and put new strings on her. I'll take a peek inside as well.
