Is there a trick to pull out the plastic part to use this (1/4") input with a regular micro-cable ?
Or do I need a special tool to pull it out ?

It doesn't come out (unless you want to destroy the socket).

It's designed to take either a 1/4" plug or an XLR plug (hence central hole for 1/4" and 3 smaller holes, actually marked 1 2 3 for XLR pins)

I have the same unit. Works great. The preamps on these sound good.

Makes for a great sound card as well.
