Old guy, noob guitarist

Hi. My sons are both into guitars, and I mentioned to one of them it might be fun to learn after all these years. Next thing I know, I’m the proud owner of a 98 G400 and a wee amp. I’ve started fooling around with it, using some videos from YouTube, and it’s going fairly well. Glad to have found this site, and I promise I will search the forums before asking the obvious questions, since everybody hates that!

You may have something there. An amp one can call "wee" might not provide a true picture of the axe can do. Unless of course it's something like a Friedman Runt.* That'e be something you could conceivably call "wee" and have it sound awesome.










*In no way am I really suggesting that anyone needs a certain level of gear to sound good or be accepted.

The wee amp is a Line 6 Spider IV. It sounds pretty good for no bigger than it is.

Lots of good settings on the Spider, it should serve you well for practicing.
Depending on how deep you get into this hobby, it may well be the only amp you'll ever need.
BUT, sooner or later, you're gonna want to upgrade, weather you really need to or not.
Gear is an addictive thing, the more you get, the more you want, but be careful, once GAS (gear acquisition syndrome) kicks in, you'll wind up shopping for a bigger house to hold it all

I have one of these, a 30W combo. It's a great first amp, plenty of what you need.
