Hello,
I am not sure however, Windex does have Ammonia in it. Use some type of Auto polish. It is much cheaper than guitar products and protects finishes the same way.

Quick answer, yes, just don't over do it. Spray a smooth rag, not directly on the guitars. You would do it on furniture ? It's basically the same.

At home.
As an alternative, we started using Soap Flakes to clean our guitars, warm damp cloth, then Microfibre to dry off, easy, cheap and no chemicals.

Warm water and mild soap is the trick.
Pledge has some wax in it, you'll just add a layer of potentially sticky stuff. I remember the wood furniture when I was a kid, it was Pledged every week and man did it becomme sticky. My mom had to strip it ever so often, with ammonia or something.
