While re-reading a recent issue of Guitar Player, I came across the gatefold photo spread I must have missed on the 1st read through.
It's SRV on stage with BB King, and Stevie's digging into this Epiphone hard- LOVE to hear/see this!

If I remember correctly that was Freddie King's Riviera he was playing.

Yeah what I heard was that he was in Australia and didn't have a guitar with him, and Freddie invited him to come out and play, and loaned him one of his guitars. It's amazing that playing a hollowbody, humbucker ES type guitar he STILL sounds like SRV.

MagicSamandbandhangingoutwTomCullenbeardandfriends869.jpg otis-rush.png Freddie King died in 76' so its not his. That model epi was favored by chicago legends Magic Sam and Otis Rush in the 60's. Sam died in 69' and Otis was playing Gibsons in the 80s and 90s. So i believe that that is Stevie's very own Riviera. Those guitars are awesome, i used to own a 66' cherry red. One that got away.

That's a killer ad!
Great- my last impulse buy hasn't even cooled off yet, and now the Casino GAS is raging!
What have I done?!
Who am I kidding? I've wanted a Casino forever- guess I'm subliminally looking for more reasons why they're so cool!
Now: Vintage- modern? Cherry, or natural??
Well, gotta move some idle gear first anyway, so I'll have a bit to ponder such weighty matters...

The guitar player in my band from the mid 1960's had a '60's Riviera with mini humbuckers...I got to play it once and still remember it! Beautiful player!
