A shame? On who?
It's ok. I post quite a lot of photos, on an ongoing basis. Here, on Gearpage, MyLes Paul, TDPRI, and StratTalk.
Most of my guitars are not Epiphones, so I would imagine that they are not especially essential to be seen here.
Contact Wayne ar GuitarHeads.net. I sent him specific measurements for mount holes to the guitar, mount holes for the pickup, cut out hole for the pickup, and overall outer dimensions of the rings. He makes them to your specification by custom order out of acrylic. Tell him Don sent you.
"well.. I have..." cue reverse tape Jimi Hendrix guitar solo. Thank YOU, Jimi. May God rest your sweet, creative soul.
I'd like to focus on your various experiences with Firebird pickups, because I feel that a relatively small number of guitarists, extant, have actually played a guitar with...
Last couple of days, I finalized the installation of Cavalier FIREBIRD pickups (with CTS pots, Switchcraft switch/jack, and 50's wiring) in my Les Paul Modern - Pelham Blue.
Playing this guitar, it now ranks up there with the best sounding guitars I've ever had (I have 38, very nice, guitars at...
Thank you, Noodling. Thirteen guitars in this photo, but I couldn't get the remaining 24 guitars of the collection into the photo. (I'm at 37 guitars now. And it's more than time to close the entry gate!!!) My most recent guitars are the three solid body Les Pauls. A sudden urge to...
My five Epiphones are here:
Front row:
Les Paul Modern Pelham Blue, Les Paul Modern Sparkling Burgundy
Second row:
ES-Les Paul Wine Red, ES Les Paul Transparent Black
Third row:
ES-339 Pro Natural finish.
The LP Modern Pelham Blue has Firebird pickups
The LP Modern Burgundy has Wolfetone...
Finalized the installation of Firebird pickups into my Pelham Blue Les Paul Modern this morning. Sounds awesome.
My five Les Pauls are in this photo. Three solid bodies, two semi hollow bodies.
Decided to re-wire and switch one of my LP Moderns to Firebird pickups today.... got everything all wired up and, alas, the neck pickup isn't responding properly. No doubt just a simple wiring problem! Done messing with it tonight... but, tomorrow is another day.
It looks pretty ding dang...
Without a doubt, YES!
I have confirmed that long-legged humbuckers (did you know that there are both "long-legged" and "short-legged" base plates on humbuckers?) WILL FIT into Epiphone Les Paul guitars.
And, let's not forget the long-shaft vs. short-shaft pots, and the long-shaft and...
Wolfe's 25% discount has been going since the beginning of COVID!!! He has been a true saint in having this offer for so long, when so many other "boutique" winders have been pricing into nose bleed territory for pickups. Even at Wolfe's regular price... his pickups are generously priced in...
If you look on the splash page (opening page) of the website, center of the page, you will see the 25% Discount Offer and CODE.
25% off $135 is $101. That is a smoking deal for such high quality, "boutique" pickups.
Epiphones are enjoying an increasing presence in my guitar squadron. There are five now, including the ES-339 Pro (not pictured below).
Here's a cell phone pic of my Epiphone Les Pauls (two Moderns and two ES-Les Pauls) The Wine Red ES-Les Paul has a pair of TV Jones T-Armond pickups in it -...
Oh yes... I did miss that. I see that now. Thank you.
Personally, I wouldn't characterize those descriptions as sounding at all like "cork sniffing".
Like you, I'm definitely not one to spend much more than $100 for a pickup, though I have stretched somewhat higher for a few TV Jones pickups...
Great day today!
Today I installed a vintage-style wiring harness with '50s wiring, and a pair of Wolfetone Dr. Vintage pickups in one of my Les Paul Moderns.
The end result pleases me immensely! :)
My other Les Paul Modern has the same wiring harness, but with a pair of Dimarzio PAF...
Never heard of Tyson pickups, not that that means anything on them. BUT, I'll take your word for it that they sound great! Which ones do you have? In what guitar?
If I were to order a Tyson set... it would probably be the Deacon set.
My two Wolfetone Dr. Vs were $202 ($101 each, with the...
Well, let me inform you, if I may?
For several years I had an Epiphone ES-339 Pro with P90s, and many years with a PRS SE Custom Semi-hollow body with P90s. And for a fair number of years, I had a Gibson Les Paul Special with P90s.
So, as it turns out, I may not have a huge amount of...
I have been largely a single-coil guy through the decades, though not exclusively.
For PAF-style pickups, I've enjoyed some variety... Gibson Classic '57s, BurstBucker Pros, and Dimarzio PAF Masters, Duncan Antiquities, and a few others (Gibson 490s didn't excite me). All very good pickups...
