The headstock is more of a sweetener, but i think the fact that they got the right pickups and real MOP inlays is really what's going to set this apart. Most import LP Custom copies don't have real MOP inlays - and that's what really sets a real Gibson LP Custom apart from a copy.
Congrats!! This model was a long time coming and well-hyped. Glad they did the open-book headstock as kind of a way to cross all the Ts and dot all the "i"s. Price is what it is... does come with a Custombucker too... that's an expensive pickup!
Yep it's exactly this. But that's also what contributes to "vintage" tone (cynic in me starts questioning what tone constitutes "new" and/or "old"). On top of that, if you start messing around with unpotted variations of PAFs like aftermarket Gibby burstbuckers, SD seth lovers etc... you can...
That's an exceptional top and looks very clean too. I've had guitars ship to me from all over the place and it usually boils down to how much care the seller takes to package the guitar properly.
Nice comparison!! For whatever reason, the flame on the Epi version of the Anaconda is much more subdued than the other models. Not sure why they did it like that...
Belated Merry Christmas everyone! Sorry for not being active for the last month or two - been super busy. And then heading off to holidays (finally) this weekend!!!
Will get back to the wiki when things settle down in the new year!! Hope everyone has a Happy New Year as well!
I think this depends on each brand and what they're outsourcing where (and the year too). I think particularly in this day and age, the price point/ where a guitar falls in a brand/series' lineup is more important and indicative of quality vs. place of origin.
Wow, really love this quote!!! Esp. the "guitar players are strange". So what Paul (RS) calls curly maple/ artist tops/ private stock, what Gibson calls 5A tops... that would've been 5x quicker to the (figuratively speaking) trash pile/ painted top section for Ted McCarty if he had a say in it.
Lol. They really should do at least one model to troll people. You know what would really create a lot of controversy? An Epiphone LP Custom made in the USA for the same price as a Gibby Standard. Cause ever since they took the Custom into the CS line, to get a plain top, painted all black...
Huh... So Josh likes the idea of snap assembly kits too! (and I'm pretty sure this was at least partly inspired by those cause he did a whole video on the nutube kits earlier this year)
That's a good point... As far as I can tell, the SD P90 that came with the previous rendition are the same as the normal aftermarket SD P90 dog ears...
It does seem weird if only this model is $999 - but the "things have gotten more expensive" line doesn't seem to work logically unless they...
Yep... it's a complete crapshoot and... I ended up wasting the equivalent of around $10. Cheap plastic (which I would've probably lived with if the damn thing actually fit). The rout for the pickup rings are about a mm off - so the whole thing is just off. not even gonna fix it, but have to...
