Beautiful guitar, definitely not from the 40s-60s, mid 70s to mid 80s would be my guess, possibly a custom one off, I've never seen anything like it and I've been a guitar geek for 35 years.
I have not done this, nor am I recommending it, but I have heard of guys removing the wax from Epi pickups with heat guns or by putting them in the oven. I have scraped a ton out of a '57 and used the heat gun a little and got more out and it made a difference. So for more of a vintage sound...
Stretch the strings in very well, make sure the bridge pins are well seated and the strings are wound on the tuners right. The tuners are rarely the culprit with detuning issues. If all else fails have the nut slots opened up a bit.
No, it helps though. The noise is part of it with P90s, it's not unbearable, you just live with it. There's nothing like real P90s, it's worth it.
It's no more noisy than a Strat or Tele really.
