I have an Agile LP Jr DC style that I bought around 2005. While it was decently built with good parts, it was very heavy and sounded rather dull as compared to my Epiphone LP Jr.

I've also bought 3 of Rondo's less expensive SX guitars and I've been very happy with them.

How much of that do you think was from the electronics? Was it just acoustically dull?

A good question. If I was to jump in the Rondo pool, it'd be with the presumption of gutting the electronics. However, if there's no spark of "life" there I wouldn't make the effort.

Drill a few holes & fill em with silver, that'll brighten it up some
