Hey Bob, If I was you I would take my time and look around at everything available. There are many other Les Paul type guitars that are excellent instruments, that are inexpensive. Epi Les Paul Juniors are nice, I have one, they only have one pickup and they are only $139 new at MF. I like a 2HB LP with trapezoid inlays, binding and flame top. You can find them for the right price if you are patient and look everyday.

And, if one prefers thick necks and customs this one is pretty awesome:

I've been wanting that one. Swap the wiring and upgrade the neck pickup to a staple version and it would be perfect!

Trib+ or LPC are great options, especially if you can score one used at a killer price. PTPs are nice too, I've owned a couple.

That said, just a regular old plain Standard that can be scored on your local CL anywhere from $150-$350 (depending on condition and whether or not it comes with a hardshell case) is tough to be beat bang-for-the-buck-wise. They make great platforms for modding, so even if it's an older one with older Epi pickups (which can be pretty meh IMO) you can swap in some pickups of your choice and still have a very affordable, excellent LP.

That’s a solid deal right there. The Trad Pro IIs I’ve had my hands were all quite nice indeed. Very fat necks too! ;)

Thanks for the heads up guys, but I'm UK based, so postage would kill the deals :frown: will keep checking out ebay and the retailers over here, worth a try.

Not on Facebook, but thanks for the thought!

Clive's site looks interesting, shame there's no prices though....

I have been thinking about getting a guitar that needs work (less money) and doing the work myself, have a fair selection of tools I've collected over the years, and hope to have the time to complete a project over the next few months - best laid plans and all that.... :0/

Contact him, see what he's got or coming in. Somebody in the forum is selling on a Standard that's had the Unsung treatment. £275 CTS pots, switch with vintage braided wire etc.15937299_793793807435272_6411879896766588872_o.jpg 15844486_793793717435281_8862216306620303468_o.jpg

After a lot of thought, I think I'm going to wait til I can afford a Bonamassa Epi LP. :jb:

Just not sure any other LP would be quite the same :dunno:

On a tangent - played a friends Casino and... I liked it! Felt a bit big though, so may have to look at a smaller version :D

Should be more affordable than a JB LP too! And nothing stopping me moving it on to add to the JB LP fund in the future, right?

Thanks for all the advice, it helped with my decision :thumb:

See if you can find a Black Beauty 3! Here is mine. It plays like a dream, and can get any tone you can think of!I paid $300 used for this one, in almost pristine shape. The only issue with mine is the typical wearing of the gold hardware.

Thanks @welshman71 - been on my watch list since it started :D

Already pushing my budget though, have a feeling it'll slip by... Again! Tracked another a while ago, that went for £462.79 ! :frown:

If I want one, one of the SG'S will have to go - probably the '99 black Korean 310.

Hence looking at alternatives in the meantime - had never even considered a semi acoustic until I played a friends Casino, but since I found out there are LP sized ones, I'm intrigued

Next dilemma... Casino Coupe or ES-339? hehe

I would definitely look to newer Epiphone that has the locking hardware. I have a PTP still has the Probuckers, and love it. I also have a black cherry Tribute +, which is stellar as well. I'm really digging the neck profile of both. If they did a honeyburst Tribute plus, I'd be all over that. The PTP is a great way to go.

I didn't get a 339 in the end David, but I do now have a Tribute +. Initially I wasn't keen on the cherry burst, until I found out they did a Faded Sunburst, needless to say, that's the one I got...

It's a little more subtle than full on Sunburst, and I love it! :D

Definitely NOT a clown burst there. Very nice looking axe.
