These are very appealing to me due to their light weight, good balance, quality build, great Les Paul-ish looks, and playability. The price is great and these can be modded to please!

Over the years, I've had four Gibson Les Pauls and they're all gone now - just too heavy and unbalanced (butt heavy) for me, as I always play sitting down. Not to mention, expensive!

As I've shopped for these Epi ES- Les Pauls, I'm finding that they have become quite scarce. I ordered the last one that Guitar Center shows on their website - now, new stock not expected until mid-December. Same with Sweetwater - "more on the way" they say. Musician's Friend (owned by GC) same thing, not until mid-December. And on Reverb, fewer than a handful in the USA. Supply has momentarily dried up.

Perhaps an updated ES-Les Paul model is soon to begin the pipeline?

I expect that these would be less popular than Epi's regular Les Pauls, because most Les Paul buyers probably want the "typical" Les Paul - a solid body.

Anyway, my hunch is that not many here on this forum have one of these, but if you do, please chime in and say a little about your impressions?

I haven't found much on these from YouTube, but this is a somewhat informative (though aged) video on them

If a 15% discount on new guitars would be enough of a price drop... that wouldn't be hard to arrange with most sellers.

And, there are some very lightly used ones on the market for about 35-40% off new regular price.

I’ve kinda had my eye on one at my local GC. They have a cherry burst one and it’s pretty light compared to my standard. But I’m kind of waiting until we see what’s happening with the new headstock and if any model revamps happen with it. (I’m really wanting a custom, but that ES is really nice)

It will be interesting to see what changes may come.

I think whatever they will be, they will be available on December 14th.

What's the difference with a Florentine ?

Les Paul ES Pro and the Florentine look pretty much the same, semi-hollow with F-holes, but each is constructed quite differently.

ES Les Paul is built just like the other ES models... top, back and sides are 3-ply maple, joined together and glued, with a center block. The top often has a laminate of figured maple, rather than plain.

Florentine starts as a solid mahogany body Les Paul and is routed out heavily. Then a 3-ply maple top, with figured maple laminate, with f-holes is put on top.

Thanks. So tonewise, would there be a difference if they had the same pickups ?

The Gibson Es lp is almost as hollow as a casino. I’m not sure if the Epiphone is as hollow.

I’m all for a custom Es lp! Bring it on.

ES Les Paul construction. The Anderton's review indicated that the Epi Les Paul ES Pro was hollow on both sides of the center and behind the tail piece, so I think this construction may apply to both the Gibson and the Epi.

Interesting fact-toid... Epiphone has been making the Les Paul ES since around 1999, IIRC. 19 years!

Gibson only made them for 3 years, I believe, from 2014-2017?

So, there must be a LOT of these Epi Les Paul ES guitars out there. Most of what you see for re-sale on eBay and Reverb are Gibson ES Les Pauls, not many Epi Les Paul ES.

And what they're asking for the Gibson ES Les Pauls is like they were lined with gold.

Sounds like the Epi owners are very happy with their purchases and there are enough people who will pay a premium for a limited run Gibson. I lusted after this model for a while, but logic prevailed - I have an LP, I have a semi-hollow, and I don't have the GAS money.

But along comes @DHart to stir up trouble with pictures :)
