Is there anyone else uses Es Les Paul? This is my first and only electric guitar, I want to know what you guys think of it and how it compares to other epiphone guitars. To me the single coil split function isn't that useful I rarely use coil split. Also, when I tried normal Epiphone Les Paul Pro, I really disliked the clean tone of that guitar, it sounded stale or muddy, whereas ES model had a better tone for me. Please share photo of your ES Les Paul and/or if you don't own ES Les Paul share your most prized guitar!

Maybe the ones you tried needed pickup height adjustments. That can kill a guitar tone, any guitar. It could make yours sound bad.

Every ES owner I've heard just love their LP. What kind of amp do you play it through ?

Not in your list is the Ultra, that has a chambered body. Less empty space than on your ES, but still relevant to its warm tone. I also like its cut on the back that makes it very comfortable to play. Here's mine.

Love and want an es les Paul! the Ultra is a complete winner! built like a much improved version of a Gretsch duo jet.

Sheraton's are hard to beat too. 339 with p90/s???

SG custom? LP custom?

I've got problems. I want a rumblekat bass too.

My favorite is the LP Tribute+... or the Casino Coupe. Let me go play them both and I'll get back to you.

The ES looks beautiful.

Whoa ! That cherry 339 is a beauty. I'm sure you can take another as good photo of it without wrappings.

It's actually wine red and that's a stock photo. My camera is on the mend right now which hopefully can be fixed. Digital cameras are great 'til they ain't and I'm no expert on diagnosing it's ills.

I've since replaced the black pickup covers with nickel silver versions, removed the pickguard, and replaced the black knobs with chrome barrel knobs like those on my Teles.

It may be a little too much "bling" but I can always go back to the stock look if it is. I'll take new pics with the changes once I have an operable camera again.

I do love these smaller body 339s though.

So is this the ES or the Florentine? Or both? Or something else? :hmm:

I'm not 100% sure.....
IIRC the ES refers to the way of building the body = similar to the ES construction

where the Florentine is closer to the LP Ultra = heavily chambered

definitely a LP ES frame. Love those.. so much.

There's a noticeable shift from ES lp to Florentine... But I'd love a Florentine too. Black, LP Custom style???

my favourite €pi models - the ones I currently own

On my first look at your guitars I thought wow that looks like an es-175 and that acoustic just blows my mind. When I saw the full photo I was pleased to see I was right about the ES I always wanted the Gibby version just could not get over the pricepoint fence. Nice guitars!

I am a HUGE fan of two Epi guitar models: the ES-Les Paul and the ES-339 PRO.

My trans black is stock (aside from steel Telecaster control knobs) - awesome tone, especially like the single-coil mode for clarity and sparkle!

My wine red ES-Les Paul, with TVJones T-Armond single coil pickups and new wiring harness. Glorious tone quality! Rosewood fretboard, too.

The inside of the ES-Les Paul is remarkably hollow, much more so than the ES-339.

Very generous access through the pickup openings. Wiring harness can easily be swapped through the pickup openings in the ES-Les Paul. No need to fish through the f-hole, as you need to do with the ES-339.

And, my ES-339 Pro, natural finish, rosewood board, with Firebird pickups and new wiring harness. Very rich, full, detailed and articulate glorious tones from these Cavalier 'Phoenix' Firebird pickups - and no hum!

With the Pro-Buckers the guitar came with:

And, with the Firebirds that I installed:

I love this Epi ES-339 just as much as my Gibson ES-339 - they're both awesome instruments.

Unfortunately, it seems that Epiphone has discontinued making the ES-Les Paul, after making them from about 2008 to 2019. They are few and far between in the marketplace. If you have one and you like it - better hold on to it dearly.

Gibson only made the ES-Les Paul from 2014-2016.

My Es-Les Pauls, followed by D'Angelico EX-SS, and Gretsch G6119T at the back.

Pudge... you were fortunate to stumble upon that ES-Les Paul. Congrats to you - they're awesome guitars and have become quite scarce.

Where did you find yours?
