I can’t imagine this would be successful. Branding is a thing because it works. Gibson has spent decades telling players the Epiphone is now a budget brand that’s like “the real thing”. Now they’re saying, forget all that and look to distant history to spend a ton of money?

This doesn’t make much sense to me, but as others have pointed out, it doesn’t appear to be made for me.

My local store has sold a dozen Texans in the past year and has a waiting list for a dozen Casinos.

Epiphone is clearly divided between two styles - cheap Gibson copies and celebration of their original designs. The latter includes $400 Coronets and $4000 Frontiers. They've never going to make a USA Les Paul, because it serves no purpose.

For me modding my Epiphones just comes with years of experience with the brand and what I do and don’t like as far as parts on the guitar.

At one time I took a ‘98 Sheraton II natural and sanded it down and pulled all the electronics. I took a shoe box and traced the inverted trace of the guitar’s electronic section and F hole.

Then I wired everything, soldered and reinforced all the wiring to make it essentially a stiff cage. Pulled it out of the shoe box, flipped it and slid it right in with a wire soldered to the jack so I could pull it through all the way.

It was a major PIA. I was really glade when the Epiphone Pro Series came to being.
Now I just replace the bridge and the tailpiece and once in a while the tuners.

Couldn’t be happier. Life is too short for long expensive mods for me.

You slid everything through the f-hole? Glad it worked. All the semi-hollows I've works on have had the selector switch on the upper horn. So it wasn't as easy. But you've given me an idea to run some string or floss from the switch cavity and pull the switch wiring up.
