Just picked this beauty up from the pawn shop I get most of my super bargains from, £275 and she's virtually mint.

Okay so the above called me again yesterday saying they had a cherryburst ovation for sale if I interested for £172. For the price I said I'd go and have a look at with a view of getting it for my son as a congratulation present for getting the job he went for on wednesday, I assumed it would be a Applause Model for that price. When I got there the manager pulled out this black case and opened it. Inside was a USA 1998 Ovation Balladeer Standard 1861 in mint condition, though the fretboard was a little dry. She looked and felt beautiful and just needs a light work on the action (nothing wrong just my stupidly low requirements).

I asked if he could put it on one side till tomorrow as I'd left the house and forgot my wallet, his reponse was to ask me to look at a Gibson LP they'd been offered and give my opinion on it to see if it was fake. while I was checking it over the manager said he just needed to do something and would be right back, the ovation was still by my side. when he came back into the room I told hime the LP was legit and he told not to worry about the deposit as he'd already paid it for me for checking out a few guitars for the shop over the last few months. I now only have to pay £137 for the guitar (I'm affraid my son won't be getting it but I will get him one of the Applause versions if he wants it).

Another pawnshop bargain, wanted a all mahogany acoustic for a while. This one cost me £ 120 and is virtually mint (belonged to the same guy as the ovation above).
