Yes I bought a beautiful white sg epi. Wtf the pickups were screaming feedback like a cat being strangled. It would not stay in tune. I was so annoyed. Crap like that throws me. I read about people paying 700 for a epi lp and changing pickups pots and tuners. Wouldn't it be logical to just buy a Gibson. I don't endorse or recommend what guitar to buy.

No. Most Epis in that price range now already come with CTS pots, Switchcraft stuff, better caps, GraphTech nuts and either Pro-Buckers or Gibson Burstbuckers. I would ask the opposite: Wouldn't it be logical to just buy an Epi?

I meant epiphone. It was a white sg Looked nice. It would not stay in tune. And the pickups screamed feedback. That's why I will never own one. Why epiphone would sell a guitar like that is beyond me. Was so glad to get rid of that thing. I imagine the old epiphone are better. At least for certain years. Like most guitar makers.

That’s not indicative of Epis in general. I have a 1998 G400, and I’ll guarantee it’s still close to in tune after a week or more in the case. Bad set up is my guess.

There are not that many horrible Epiphone out there, but I bet there are thousands with badly cut nuts and wrongly wraped strings on tuners that make their tuning unstable. There are also a ton of pickups that are adjusted way too high to do anything good. So ... yes, lots of horrible Epiphone just waiting for a good setup.

You probably never gave that SG a chance to prove itself.

I strung the guitar myself. I think the tuners were no good on the epiphone. I put Grover tuners on my acoustic. It stays on tune. The pickups were burst buckets. They were probably cheap ones. I have probuckers from a epi explorer. They sound great.

Thank you for your review. Our complaint dept. is located two door down on your left. ;)

Any company producing thousands of guitars a year is bound to produce a few clams. This is why dealers offer generous return privileges so that if by you do get a bad one you can exchange it for one without issues. I've had to do that once or twice with other top line brands myself. Beyond that it becomes a warranty issue and Epiphone has a good one.

FWIW I own 3 Epiphones all from different years, a 2008 Les Paul, a 2013 Casino, and a 2019 ES 339 and I've had no problems with any of them or the other two Epiphones I've owned. If you manged to get a lemon why didn't you return if for another of the same model.....or different model if you were convinced an SG just wasn't right for you?

I'm reading complaints but nothing about any attempts to resolve your issues. When does that part come?

I have a esp ltd vyper 400 sg style. Also a lower end esp sg. style. Esp ltd stray style. They are all good. A schecter worth 880. The reason I don't buy them or never will is because they produce shit.

Well ... if you come here, on an Epiphone forum, to shit on the product every member likes, don't expect any sympathy.

Use it as firewood and buy another brand.

ESP and Schecter are both very good brands. You'll get no argument from me there.

But Epiphone is still ranked as a top 5 import brand for selection AND QUALITY so as far as your preaching goes all I can say is wrong church, wrong pew.

We never hesitate to honestly critique our guitars and when you come on trolling with Epiphone produces shit it makes me wonder if you're even a player at all when those of us who are find them to be an excellent value and very well built guitars.

If they don't fit your needs that's fine by me too but when you post nothing but misinformation and belittle Epiphone you're gonna get some ass kickin' from those of us who do play them and play them professionally as well. Feel the foot?

And.....now, where do we keep that ignore button? Ah, there it is. :D
