A Swart STR Tweed arrived in a brown truck this morning. Shortly after that I had to run out and pickup my wife at work. She tested positive for Covid so playtime is on hold for a while.
The Swart is from 2013 and came with a Greyhound GHC70. I have Celestion Blues and was hoping to drop one in but my STR is an early model and the alnico speaker with that big magnet won't clear the 6V6 power tube. That has me a little bummed but I dropped an email to Michael Swart to see what he recommended. These days the amps ship with Monotone BV30H speakers but I'm not sure that's going to be a dramatic upgrade over the Greyhound.
Hopefully, I"ll get a chance to play with the amp this evening. So far, I probably have less that 15 minutes in on it! But, I have to say I'm impressed. It's ridiculously loud for a 5 watt amp and the reverb is really something to die for. I can't wait to dig into it over the next few days.
I'll post pictures later after I reduce their sizes.
