After not being able to get any wiggle room from the staff at GC a couple days ago ($799) I walked. Nothing personal but c’mon already!

Today online they had it “forth of July sale” $649!
OK then: another 5 gallons of gas and back to Chico.
Came with a case!

Got home, set it up for my hands and ears and it sounds REALLY GOOD!
Sometimes even a blind geezerly squirrel gets the prize!

HNGD !!!!
Thanks!
Yes, I am happy!
Glad it worked out after all. I would have missed on what turns out to be a stellar guitar!
I have had two Gibson LP Specials I remember had such sweet sounds. One I did the ‘50’s wiring thing on. The other had circuit boards but sounded nice as-is.

I’m very impressed by how nice this custom sounds as it came.
The neck pickup I set down for a nice warm jazz sound. Combined with the bridge it just sparkles!
It may just be the nicest sounding guitar I’ve had, and that’s been plenty!

Congrats on your new Black Beauty

:thumb::applause::thumb:

PS
this has nothing to do with the 1955 €pi LP-Custom with Gibbo pickups ?
I don’t think they’re the same. I believe GC may have jumped on the ‘55 wagon after those previous ones. The ad copy is all over the place.

This one is touted as “limited edition,” by GC.
All in all a real decent playing and sounding guitar for the price, but from the description by others of the import pickups, I’m pretty sure these are Epi Chinese.
Sometimes I find it hard to decipher who is doing what, when.

Crazy.
Mine is ebony board, and now I’m even more confused about headstocks!
:dunno:
Guess I better pull the pickups and see what’s going on.

Did yours have a designation on the back of the head?
Mine just has a serial number for a ‘23.

Mine was made in their own factory in QingDao China, IIRC it was made ~2007-08

the serial# format is like YYMMFFRRRRR
YY=year
MM=month
FF=factorycode, yours is probably 15 for their own factory in China or 23 for the Samick Indonesian factory
RRRRR=ranking/batch/whatever #
