Hi folks. I used to have a 2005 sapphire blue Deluxe players fender strat (poly finish). Over a couple of years the colour changed on the body to a beautiful emerald green, all over, uniformly except in the pickup cavities and spring cavity, presumably taking up the colour of the plush lining of its hard case (I was in the navy then and spent most of the year at sea, therefore it stayed in its case a lot). Maybe a chemical reaction with either finish or case as both were new at the time? Has anyone noticed such a change on their Epiphone? Colour changes over time, uv fading finishes, that sort of thing? I thought it only happened to nitro finishes, but my old strat would lead me to doubt that. Sadly I traded in that strat for my first casino (ended up being a dog) and have had a few casinos since (all lacking in some respect except the Gary Clarke Jr whose only fault was no Bigsby ). Still Casino obsessed, hoping the USA made royal tan won’t be stupid expensive

I had a PRS SE Soapbar Maple II that went from blue to green (some sort of poly finish). It wasn’t the gig bag in my case, as it was out on a stand most of the time.

It was either UV, or maybe the blue dyes/pigments are unstable.

That's why I only buy black guitars.....

Gonna have to rename you Darth Paruwi. LOL

The only experiences with color change I've ever experienced have been on 60s Fenders where Sherwood Green became more of a Teal color, LPB became more of a blue/green, and Olypmic White tends to yellow more over time when exposed to UV light.

Nitro finishes seem more susceptible than poly but I can see from some posts here that even Epi poly finishes can experience color shifts. I've also never had a guitar or bass respond with a color change just from being cased but can't deny it not possible.

Thanks for your wonderful replies so far. Funnily enough I forgot about my 2005 Fender Strat XII (metallic LPB) that’s slowly turned a slightly greeny turquoise (still pristine LPB in the cavities). Maybe there is someth8ng to blue pigment being slightly unstable
