very rough/dry fretboard

Perhaps a possible solution to get the highest roughest fretboard material leveled without taking too much from/off the surface ? Very lightly scrape the fretboard with a razor blade or case cutter blade ? See the Before & After at the end of the video. Once gently scraped it would need to be oiled again.

It seems very efficient but one would have to be extra careful not to hurt oneself with that razor blade.
