I can't find my strap so I was just about to pick a new one. So I was agonising over colour. Do we all do this. Why do we chose what we do? What does it say about us?
As guitars come and go I delegate strap selection to my wife. The vast choices are far too overwheling for me. I'd rather be playing and she is a great shopper. Each guitar is more inspiring to play when they are properly dressed.

I had a strap on the guitar I had in the 80’s, it was tan buckskin leather, as soft as a baby’s bottom. Been looking to find one like it with no luck whatsoever. What does that say about me????

I like Levy's straps. This one, however, is my prized possession. My lady had it made for me for Christmas in 1975. It lives on my Jazz Bass because that was the bass I used back then. All of the other instruments have a Levy's. It will be 50 years old pretty soon.

I sometimes feel like I am being unfaithful because I have a Fender strap on my Epi es339.
I have PRS strap on my 'tele.
I do have the nice, brown Epiphone strap that Charles Carter posted above on my Epi '59 Les Paul and a brown leather Taylor strap on my Taylor. PRS brown suede on my PRS P20 parlor and a black Dunlop leather on my Epi J-200 parlor.

I have always found guitars to be works of art and the strap is a part of the aesthetic.
I am really only a rudimentary player and I primarily play seated. But I always use a strap.
It is fun finding the right one for each instrument.
RoverV welcome to our forum.

I've never thought matching straps were ever a necessity but for awhile I did have Fender Tweed Straps on all of my Teles. Then I shifted over to the wider black Levy's straps because they're more comfortable and everything goes with basic black.

I buy straps with a couple of things in mind. One is comfort and that's determined by the guitar it's one. I have several and their weights vary. Second I prefer 3 inch straps and buy or order to enhance the look and color the the guitar some are custom ordered and I don't buy seatbelt straps all cloth or leather.
Welcome to the forum Tony!

You and I choose straps based on much the same principles.

That you like soft baby's bottoms???? :D

Can't say I blame you. I've done my share of diapering over the years.

Mostly I use 3" leather straps now. Like many here, I usually look for a deal. Saw someone selling a new Levy's upscale strap for $20 right down the street from me recently, so I went wild an bought that. Goes nicely with a cherry or wine guitar. I'll try to post a photo tomorrow.

Before that I mostly used the old-school Gibson soft, 2.5", single thickness leather type. But I think the Levy's has spoiled me on a more substantial strap.

As most of mine are actually plastic, what they say about me is that I'm a cheapskate.

I guess I’m more about comfort than anything else. Leather straps on most of mine, with some funky patterned Earnie Ball straps on lighter guitars like a Casino.
