What did you do to your Epiphone today?

I gotta say, I love the way Monty's labeled the bridge and neck pickup wires coming off the toggle. There was an image of a camel for the "neck" pickup and the Tower of London for the 'bridge" pickup on respective wires.

What did you do to your Epiphone today?

I took it upon myself to install a set of used Throbak SLE101 MXV's that were delivered late last week. It was a task! The pickups were replacing the Burstbucker 2 & 3's in the ASF '59 LP I bought as a "demo" last year for just $680. Shorty after I bought it I installed a Faber tailpiece with...

    very rough/dry fretboard

I think Chicago Music Exchange has the best price in the US. Alternatively, you could always order directly from Monty's. Grab a set of amazing PAF's and one of their incredible harnesses and it won't even cost you anything for the shipping of the tin of wax! 😀

    very rough/dry fretboard

I should also add that you need to buy lighter fluid to make sure you get the neck as clean as possible before you apply the Montypresso.

    very rough/dry fretboard

I'll add to the clamor about Montypresso. I think the wax is better at improving the tactile quality of the neck rather than darkening it substantially. I did both my '59's and will say they wax enhanced the look of the grain but really was a hit when it came to the overall feel of the neck...

What did you do to your Epiphone today?

Not so much “what did I do” as “what did I get” today for my Epiphone. My Throbak SLE-101’s arrived today. I’ll probably have time later this week to install them on my ASF ‘59. I got the guitar cheap and the pickups were a deal as well so I’m fine with experimenting with these replica PAF’s...

New Epiphone models with Gibson shaped head stock.

I couldn't agree more. I just have to wait at least until June. I've purchased 7 guitars over the last 10 months. I need more hangers and another rack, too!

New Epiphone models with Gibson shaped head stock.

I don’t think it’s too expensive at all. In fact, had I not bought the DG-335 the day it was introduce, I probably would have bought this new ES-355. I‘ve been wanting as ES for awhile.

What did you do to your Epiphone today?

For the last several months I've been very busy modifying or upgrading, dependent upon your perspective, the three Les Paul's I bought late last year. Today I received a package from the UK with the last harness assembly I plan on installing in one of my relatively new LP's. It's from...

Have a Decibelics Golden Horse on the Way

I bought a Tumnus Germanium and a Notaklon mainly out of curiosity. I have a couple of Pince of Tones, a Timmy and an Origin Effects full size so I’m not necessarily a Klon guy but so much has been said on TGO about how amazing these pedals are, I figured what the hell, give one a try. I think...

    Just Ordered a DG-335

I guess even the idea of scraping my new fretboard got me so edgy that I didn't even notice the deployment of an excess of p's!

    Epiphone Greeny ABR upgrade

I forget to post back but the ABRM from Faber looks like it will fit my DG-335 as long as I use the E-serts that I pictured. I’ll probably drop this bridge in after I get another tailpiece so I can do all of it at one time.

Excellent, Rider. I can’t wait to try it.

DG-335 Bridge Pickup Much Closer to Bridge

To me, it looks like the DG-335 pickup is situated just like what you'd find on a Gibson LP whereas the pickup on my Epi '59 is where you'd expect to find them on a Gibson ES. This later assumption being based on pictures of Gibson ES models, not having one here physically to compare.

DG-335 Bridge Pickup Much Closer to Bridge

I was going over my new DG-335 and was struck by how close the bridge was to the bridge pickup. I know that on all Epi LP's there seems to be a bigger gap between the pickup and the bridge when compared to Gibsons. I've never taken a measuring stick to any of my LP's Gibson or Epi but...

    Epiphone Greeny ABR upgrade

I have an extra ABRm-ABR59 with titanium saddles kicking around along with the correct e-serts for an Epi LP. I'm not sure if the ABRM is the right match for the DG-335 but I plan on restringing the guitar today and I'll check to see if it fits.

    Just Ordered a DG-335

I did weigh the guitar this morning and will be restringing it (I am no fan of the Gibson strings that came on it). I'll also take some time to polish the frets up. The guitar weight just 8 lbs 5 oz on my digital postal scale. I was really surprised because it just seemed much heavier. I...

    Just Ordered a DG-335

Rider, did you find the need to scrap the Indian Laurel before you used the Monty's? I figured what Matt Gleason meant when he talked about sealer was the way my maple board on my AO 50's had a finish to it where as the rosewood on my AO 60's doesn't seem to. I think I'll drop Matt a line to...
