Anyone ever replaced the piezo pickup in a Chet Atkins SST?

Mine isn't "weak", nor is there a problem with the balance from string to string. After months of playing it I've come to the conclusion that I just had unrealistic expectations. A solid body guitar with piezo pickup, no matter how craftily designed, is never going to sound exactly like a real...

    The New FAKE Epi thread

A couple of days ago I found an Epiphone Les Paul for sale on Craigslist. It was disassembled but included all parts and was priced at $100.00 and the first thing I thought of was this thread. Came here to check on the signs of a fake Epi and by the time I got back to Craigslist the listing was...

    Show off your Pedalboard!!

Here's my pedal board for my Epiphone Chet Atkins SST. The solid-body SST doesn't sound quite like a real acoustic, so the Boss AC-3 helps out here. The AC-3 is very picky about input levels and produces hideous digital distortion with the slightest overload, so the CS-3 compressor/limiter goes...

Anyone ever replaced the piezo pickup in a Chet Atkins SST?

No active electronics. I just upgraded the volume and tone pots and there's precious little space in there!

Anyone ever replaced the piezo pickup in a Chet Atkins SST?

I don't think any of those KK Sound pickups will work because the SST doesn't really have an interior, being mostly solid. I'm pretty much stuck with some kind of under-saddle pickup. (There's no preamp in this guitar, BTW).

Anyone ever replaced the piezo pickup in a Chet Atkins SST?

I realize this question is kind of a long shot. There aren't many of these guitars around (I totally love mine) so the chances of finding someone who's modded one is pretty slim. But what the heck! As I said, I love my Epiphone Chet Atkins SST Deluxe, but I find the tone from the piezo pickup...

    Show off your Pedalboard!!

That MXR Studio Compressor is a gem, isn't it? I searched high and low for an affordable compressor pedal that had controls labeled for grownups. That is, "attack" "release", "ratio", etc. instead of meaningless mumbo-jumbo like Muscle, Punch, Range, Boost, Drive and other drivel. I'm an...

My Chet Atkins Custom SST: Taking it to 11

The volume and tone pots on my Chet Atkins SST felt flimsy and cheap, so I ordered some high quality CTS pots for it. Very nice. And as a finishing touch I ordered replacement knobs as well.

    Well Here's A New Twist

My PRS SE Custom 24 developed a mysterious buzz a while back and it drive me crazy for a while. Then I tightened the screw on the truss rod cover and all was sweetness and light again :)

    Show your Epiphones

I found one on Craigslist and really liked the idea. Went to look at it and found that it had no case and it showed. It looked as if it had been thrown in the back of a van with the amps for many, many gigs. (Definition of "Roadie": Someone who didn't pay for the gear they're throwing into the...

    Show your Epiphones

I just bought this Epiphone Chet Atkins SST Custom a couple of weeks ago and I'm totally in love with it. I'm a 50-something bass player who's occasionally dabbled in guitar and I'm now doing more of it because guitar is more fun when playing alone and between Covid and not getting to know any...
