... Said Richard III in ActV SceneIV (Shakespeare).

My 1st guitar for 2022 - already ! :naughty:

A big box :

A Gretsch G5420LH Aspen Green (fairly rare in LH) :

Unfortunately, some damages occured during transit  :

But nothing major : after close inspection by a pro luthier friend, the guitar has no structural damages... Some local refinish touch-ups and it will be OK. ;)

Cheers,

Congrats. Glad you can find a color you like in an LH model.

Install a jack plate ASAP. There are lots of disaster stories on Gretsch-Talk about players who accidentally step on the cable and pull it out of the guitar with a chunk of wood.

Agreed. Done as a preventive measure, a more attractive plate can be used.

Of course, if a guy loops his cord up over the lower strap button he does get a bit of strain relief.

Tangentially, am I the only person who thinks the jack plate on the PRS Silver Sky is sexy as hell?

Thank you Guys !

I'd say that the Aspen Green is something like a "Pond Green Metallic", if I can say so :

Yes, my Gretsch all have an added jack plate :

The LH Aspen Green has been quickly discontinued, so they are fairly rare items (probably less than 100)...

Yes, I plugged it and everything is OK : That Great Gretsch Tone... :)

Tomorrow evening, she will be in the hands of my pro luthier pal for repairs. :naughty:

Cheers.

This is the kind of cars and colors we don't know here...

The guitar is in the hands of my Luthier pal now, so Wait and See...

I’d be on the phone with the seller, to exchange it or knock some off the price.

He's just gonna slap a jack plate over it - as he does on his others. No real harm done.

Yes. I'll just have to be patient, since my pro Luthier pal is overloaded in business repairs...

Agreed, the only thing I would add is to use a 90 degree cable as well.

Yes. That's what I use on such guitars : angled jack cable.

I'll post pictures of the guitar whan she will return from the luthier.
The question is : I don't know when he will have the time to do it !

About French cars, most of the nicest and interesting ones have been built before WWII, with a few exceptions...

Who remembers the Citroën SM from 1972 ?
