I'm a big fish eater & have heard of those flatheads being good table fish through watching Rex Hunts fishing program we used to get over here, Is he still around making those fishing programs!
I have a double garage to the side where my Rover is kept, the other side keeps getting full of junk:rolleyes: I wanted to get it inside this Winter but it looks like a losing battle.
The last time I went sea fishing was decades ago from a small port in North Wales called Deganwy, caught a boat load of mackerel & pollock.

Thanks LP it was a gorgeous morning and a warm day today. Rex's (I know him) show finished here years ago and most of the young blokes he had on it had their own shows since and then they have gone too. Flathead rate very highly as a table fish and Mallacoota where we are going has some thumpers! We can only keep them up to 55CM as over that they are breeders.

I bought a few items of tackle today and loaded all my rods in the boat ready to go. It's pretty windy this time of year but if I can't get the boat out we will fish from the bank which can sometimes also be productive. Never been on less that 1/4 acre and here we have 64 of those with the closest neighbour 200 metres away. Will have to downsize soon as I can't do all the work now. I want to go somewhere right by the water and close to a boat ramp.

Thanks for your kind comments mate.

24 C again and a possibility of a thunderstorm later in the day. It was warm out in he sun yesterday and I have to wash the car so I might do that early.

BBQ outside last night again so it's getting to the good times again where we cook and eat out every night.

Whoops, forgot to mention that it's the first day of summer in Oz today!!

That's cool you know Rex, I bet he's a laugh to go fishing with. mild again here 6C & it's the first day of Winter hwere lol.

I had an email from my mate over there in Queensland this morning, he said he saw a snake in the kitchen so he went to get his snake stick & when he got back to the kitchen it had disappeared  how do you relax after that! lol. I told him to burn everything with fire:D

Relax? Bugger that, I'd be staying up at Mum's house until we caught it I think!!

We aren't necessarily afraid of snakes but we do give them a healthy respect, as is their due.

I only know Rex casually, and hear he was a bugger of a bloke in reality but I too really enjoyed his fishing shows, and learned much from him over the years.

There was actually a lot of controversy about hime some years back where he was paying some younger woman for oral sex. He came across through the very public exposure in the media as pretty weak & gutless. There was a lot of sympathy for his wife Lynne and apart from some footy commentary he's pretty much died out after that.

Do you tend to get "cabin fever" with it cold like that , or do you manage to get out and about regardless? We have our own version with continuous days of 40 or above heat. Tend to sit inside with the A/C blasting!

I was laughing about , was it your comment that there are heat warnings there @ 24C? We;ve had that for the last 4 days and they are just nice warm ones as far as we are concerned. All a matter of what you are accustomed too I guess.

Oh heck! he couldn't keep it in his pants eh!. A bit sad really as he was a good presenter. I do tend to stay in a lot more since I retired, especially in the cold short daylight Winter months, I've got a chronic back disorder which means I don't walk very far & apart from looking after my parents (both late 80's) I'm a bit of an hermit really.

Sounds like you have enough to do anyway.

If its any consolation it was cool outside tonight once it got dark and we were forced to end our socialising at about 8.30 tonight. Hoping for better to come.

Hoping we can wet a line tomorrow.

It's strangely dry & mild here, 5C & the weather guys say it's going to reach 12C next week:shock:, unheard of. I'll take it though as paying the gas bill for the central heating is like giving strawberries to donkeys. I'm just about to sit down with a few beers & watch the Rugby international Eng V Aus.
