Hey good folks at EpiTalk,

I'm a huge fan of Epiphone archtops. I've always been impressed by their playability, sound and style since I started playing guitar in 2000 at age 15.

I got my first Epiphone (a Sheraton II) in 2012 after reaching the semifinals of the Guitar Center King of the Blues competition. I had a choice between two Epi Les Paul's and a Sheraton, and I jumped at the chance to get a Sherry. After receiving it and realizing how quality it was, I've been adding Epi archtops to my collection as quickly as I can!

A little more backstory -- one of my bucket list guitars that I've wanted since I began playing is a satin cherry red Gibson ES-335. Well, recently a friend of mine picked up a Gibson ES-339 and brought it by for a jam session. I strapped it on, played it for awhile and let's just say I was less than impressed. Don't get me wrong, it was a great playing guitar....but my Sheraton not only played just as nicely, but sounded even better to my ears!

That's when I decided that, at least for me, it isn't worth paying a huge amount of coin for a guitar if the playability of it isn't leaps and bounds ahead of a similar Epiphone model. Granted, the Epiphone Casino has P90's while an ES-335 has humbuckers, but tonally my Sheraton already covers that ground...so I bit the bullet and decided to go with a cherry red Casino!

Upon arrival, it needed a setup -- neck had too much relief, and the bridge was way too high. Literally five minutes later, I had the action crazy low with no fret buzz whatsoever -- I think the factory fretwork on the recent MIC Epiphone archtops is what has impressed me most. I haven't had any issues at all with getting nice, low action with no buzz on any of the three I own.

So anyway, I'm super impressed and this one is most certainly a keeper. On with the pr0n!

Beautiful Cherry Casino! I agree with you on the Sheraton II as well. There might be a difference between the Sherri and the Gibson, but I didn't see over $2000 in difference when I played one, either. And the Casino is just fun to play, even unplugged.
enjoy it! (My cherry Casino is in my avatar pic, an older MIK by Peerless.)

Mine's a MIC Casino. That's interesting that some are still being made in Korea!

There's a richness of tone from two P-90s that nothing else can duplicate. Great playing!

My Casino was my 1st "good" electric guitar and I will never let her go! She's a 2007 Korean beauty, when I got her her previous owner hadn't looked after her very well, but nothing that a bit of TLC couldn't resolve. IMHO nothing sounds or feels like a Casino, they are so light that you get decieved into thinking they are delicate creatures, plug in and you soon realise they can snarl and bite with the best of them!

Thanks everyone, I'm glad y'all enjoyed the demo. I hope it helps anyone who might be on the fence about getting one of these stellar guitars!

Cool demo, i've got a Casino on my want list. Weve got matching Sheratons by the way, i feel mine stands up to big buck Gibson's too.
