I should be doing dishes, but instead I decided to be productive and take a picture of all my guitar’s first cousins, amps. I know I have much more than I need but I couldn’t help myself. Most of them are pretty neat.

Starting from the lower left and going clockwise:

1) Vox AC4TV head installed in a converted film projector case with a 60’s 12 inch alnico speaker (I can’t remember the brand at the moment).

2) Rickenbacker lap steel amp. I do believe it’s from the late 30’s. There are no knobs on the amp, just an input jack so to control volume and tone from the guitar. This sucker is around 5 watts but it’s stupidly loud with really nice breakup when it’s maxed out.

3) Unknown PA head with unknown speaker cab. If I was to take a guess they’re probably from the 60’s. Really nice clean sounds with the 12 inch alnico speaker although it does get buzzy when the volume is cranked.

4) Blackstar ID:CORE Stereo 20. This is my “I want to play but it’s late” amp. Overdrive sounds are meh, but the clean sounds are great. You can hook it up to a computer and tweak the onboard effects. Really nice stereo delay.

5) Sound Projects R-203 from the early to mid 60’s. Another nice amp which takes pedals beautifully. Currently my favorite amp.

6) Crate V5. This was a Christmas present from my nephews around 6 rears ago. The story of this one is amusing. They went to GC to get me a gift card. They saw the amp sitting off in a corner with some dust on it. The kids at GC told my nephews that there’s something wrong with the amp because it didn’t turn on right away. My oldest nephew made me proud when he talked the guitar manager to let it go for $25. When I was given the amp I was told that it didn’t work. They new I loved tinkering with amps and thought I’d like a project. So yes, I was given a broken amp for Christmas.

Luckily I figured out that the power tube wasn’t really lighting up plus the sockets needed to be sprayed out Swapped in a tube from another amp, sprayed out the sockets with some contact cleaner, and it was up and running. I put in a new set of Groove Tubes and a Weber speaker. The speaker sounded a little brittle so I plugged in an old iPod loaded with some bass heavy music into the amp and let it play while the CFO and I were at work. Music blasted through it for 8 hours a day for almost a week. When I plugged into the Crate the Weber sounded great, almost a Champ like sound. I’m going to have the volume and tone knobs removed completely whenever I can find someone to do it for me. Underrated little amp imho.

When I got it for free, it came in a box like that.

I knew I wanted one that matched the new SCXD cab. So I stripped it, tung oiled it, gave it pickups, tuners and voilà !

Cool, that's pretty much what I figured (roughly) was going on. Thanks for saving the guitar! For a short while I had one of the Epi bolt-neck Juniors. Perfectly usable guitar, and for $50 USD (obviously used) a great beater.

And here it is!The newest addition to my arsenal:the mighty Marshall 6100 30th Anniversary.
As you might gather from the snapshot it is a 5881 fitted production version, the valves are Svetlana's.Owned almost exact the same somewhere in the nineties and early 2000's until the rigid Dutch state forced me to sell it....But all fine now.It sounds incredible, just on a Marshall MX112.I think of getting a good old 1936,or 1936V for it,but first an attenuator is mandatory.I live in a older aparment building for some thirty years now,and me and my 'boors are happy with eachother-I better keep it that way ;-)

But Hell I am happy!

Show your amps

I browsed the 17 pages and recognized some amps : The Supro and Magnatone amps from @wildeman, the stacks or towers from @Brian Krashpad, among others...

Sorry Guys, I never could take a whole family portrait of my amps for two reasons :
1 - the multiple heavy weights to carry...
2 - the permanent incompletion of the family...

OK - one day, I'll do it ! One day... :squint:

The Boogie Dept.

The Supro Dept.

Not larger :

The Personal-DIY Dept. I wrote Personal, because it's not a business : I am an amateur-builder.

Probably the largest Dept...

Thanks @Brian Krashpad ! :)

You already have a truckload of amps (I don't even speak about the guitars) and moreover, you managed all right to take a whole family portrait... Unlike me...:frown:

Cheers !

Any chance we can see some photos of it that aren't on the Guilhem website?

Sure...

The COMET started like this :

Sorry, most of the pictures concerning construction, wiring and Tolexing have been lost when my previous laptop had been stolen in summer 2014...
