I tried to take photos, but the flame on the maple is very hard to capture because it shifts a lot according to the angle from which it's viewed. So here are some photos from the store where I bought it. Near-mint. TONE. Solid as a rock, straight as an arrow.

Thanks! Yes indeed. The store said that they acquired the bass when a guy brought in a big cache of near-mint instruments. Apparently he bought a bunch of gear, barely touched it, then for whatever reason put it away for decades, then finally decided to get rid of it all.

A large portion of my 1993-1994 Epiphone collection is either in excellent condition or approaching near-mint. Plastic still on the covers, stickers still on the back, etc. And I didn't really seek this out. A lot of people seem to buy instruments and just stash them in a closet for a lifetime. Of course this increases the value, but I find at least an equal amount of value in a proven instrument that has been ridden hard, battle tested for decades, and is still kicking.

Some spoils from a recent round of hunting & gathering.

I hadn't owned an acoustic 12-string for decades. I was liking Epiphone's older Japanese Bard models, with block inlays and zero fret. this later 70s model came very clean with a case.

I am a huge fan of Epiphone's Casino, playing an '03 Peerless-made Cherry model. Still, if I stumble across a clean Korean-made model for a great price, I won't think twice about picking it up. This Vintage Sunburst Peerless-made Casino was live on Reverb all of about 4 hours before I snagged it. Original case included.

Lastly; The minty '01 Supernova was a local find. I already have a lovely Korean-made Alpine White Sheraton, as well as a newer Epi ES-335 Pro (natural finish), ..but seeing as the Supernovas are well-rated and also long out of production, I couldn't pass it up for $750.

Got another Viola Bass. This one is also from Unsung, but 5 years older. Built right before Christmas in 1995. A bit lighter in weight than my first one. Slightly more even sound across the fretboard. Such a nice, golden, rich tone.

Just took possession of an '03 Riviera and a '00 Casino. Both local but separate buys, both very clean with little play.

Bought earlier this year Epi Les Paul Standard.

Modded with SD Whole Lotta Humbuckers and custom wiring giving push-pull coil splits and bridge pickup phase flipping. I've also fitted Guyker locking tuners, a Guyker adjustable nut (not in this picture) and a Guyker roller saddle (also not in this picture).
