hi ucsteve,

beautiful guitars & a lovely 2020 50's goldtop. did you change the tuners? are the 2020's epis really that much better (playability and fabrication) than all the others (korean inkl.)? all the test-reviews and youtube-vids communicate that . . .

greetings from germany

New to the forum though not to Epiphones. I have owned a few acoustics and this is my first electric. John Hooker 100th.
I picked this up from someone who was loaded with high end Gibsons and never played it. The setup ws all over the place as the stock bridge did not like the unwound G he was using. He advised trying a wound G and most of the intonation issues have disappeared.
My first impresssion is it is a good looking instrument once I get past the plastic finish. I am thinking of getting a Bigsby for it after I get it set up with some balanced strings and I spend some time getting to know it.
Looking forward to exploring the forums here.Epiphone body angle.jpg Epiphone full slight angle.jpg Epiphone straight.jpg

heya, yeah ive always like the chrome style better and thought what the hell. Changed them on both LP's. And im prob not the most qualified judge at this point but, the 2020 orig 50s I can say are made really nice. Ive always thought the 2002 was pretty good and all but, this thing is like a cadillac compared to that. As far as Epi's go I figure. I also went about things a bit rash, since i dont really know any better anyway, but i wanted to set my new epi apart from the other 31,500 of em by putting the Seymor Duncans in it, so i could upgrade the 2002 (Saein MIK) at the same time. SInce those old MIK pickups were a bit muddy anyway. Absolutley love the neck on that one. Juice up 2 birds with 1 extra set of pickups and pots, caps etc. Friggin rips now with those new probuckers in it. Ive been kinda focused on that one so much that I havent really fussed with the goldtop much...yet. I will say the neck on that is really nice, took a bit to get used to the neck tho. I actually was hoping for a tad more baseball bat, but its a bit flat, but wide. Very nice tho. Now just to resist the temptatiojn to take the finish off that neck will be the challange
salutations from Pennsyltucky heh

You don't need to go to that extreme. Get yourself some Scotch Brite pads and within 2 or 3 minutes you can have a neck as smooth as ...
I do it to all my guitars and it is reversible if you ever wanted to do so.

that is true, but i like to feel my wood ha. I bought my 2002 and the previous owner had done it already on that one. I liked it so I did it on most of my favorites. Yes, I really dont have much interest in selling any of em.

I don't own this guitar and other than being somewhat addicted to simple plank guitars with single coil pickups I have absolutely no need for it either.......but I still want one. Is there no end to insanity? :ohno:

This is my 2007 Epi firebird.
I absolutely love this guitar.
At the time I bought it i was searching all over the internet daily for a firbird then an ebay ad for this baby popped up... and it was in the same country... had to buy it!!
(had it been from any other country the shipping and other fees would've been nuts)

I’m not sure if I’ve posted this before. This is my boring Casino, modified as much as is humanly possible.

Hello everyone, here are some pictures of Ruby, my heavily modded Epiphone Les Paul Express, who doesn't even resembles one anymore
The tuners have been upgraded to Kluson, the pickup is from an 80's Kramer and the pots, condos, capacitors and output jack are from a 70's Greco LP copy, and finally the hole where the second pot usually is will house a push-pull pot linked to a mini fuzz circuit (proco RAT inspired)!
It's the ultimate Epiphone Stoner Machine :dude:
