Thanks a lot for the first answers and your kind help, Paruwi.

The file upload now works, but my pictures are too large.
I'm not going edit them all - that would be too much work...

I prefer to set a link tomorrow to my media-center.

Kind regards

Don't worry, your guitar is absolute legit,
it is a Czech made Epi

here is more information about the bohemian made Epis, with all the 'Differences' pointed out

Wow - thanks a lot for your fast answer, Paruwi.

I've just read the article and learned a lot.

I gave back the guitar to the seller as it was too suspicious for me: body and neck were not mahogani, no serial number, the "strange" pickups...
And the sound of the guitar was not that kind as I expected...

But now I know that it was no fake.
I will forward this information to the seller - so you will probably see it on "ebay-kleinanzeigen.de" soon... ;-)

How much is it worth?
It's in nearly mint condition and comes with a case...

Kind regards

I'd say ~ 250 €

Many people rate those Czech made Epis between the 'usual' asian made Epis and the Made in Japan Epis

Wow - that much?

Some of them had been offered around the 400-600€ price-range on eBay
I remember one 'clown' who tried to sell one as a '80s made in US Epi in the 1000€ area,
he was resistant to advice about them

I don't think there is a huge market for them,

a few collectors might be interested in them

Not sure if I am posting this in the right place, this is the back of the headstock on my Epiphone dot natural and it seems for some reason the original serial number has been half scratched off, with a sticker added and it also looks like someone may have tried to stamp something on there too. This guitar plays very well, has Epiphone written on the back of the pickups and cost me $200 second hand with a fitted TKL case so I am happy about the deal. I notice the A string machine head is slightly out of line but maybe this is common? I am sure I can straighten it up if it bothers me. There is no serial printed on the label inside the body. I wondered of you could shed any light on the half serial number to check its identity :) Please ignore my semi naked reflection in the machine heads, it is extremely hot here!!! Thanks :)1.jpg Thanks

Probably a refurbished guitar. They will punch the serial like that, so it doesn't get sold as a new one.

What's the punch ? DUD ? DEAD ?

Yours is a MIRC refurbed Epi

https://mircweb.com/

the original serial# tells made at the Chinese DaeWon factory Jan '05

Refurbished Models

MIRC Refurb Label
Serial numbers starting with '311xxxx' on a golden sticker are 'refurbished' guitars sold by MIRC (Musical Instrument Reclamation Center)
  • There is no way to tell the year or the month it was made in the MIRC serial
  • Original serial numbers are usually defaced
  • Original warranty void
  • Sometimes the word "2nd" is stamped on back of headstock
  • MIRC specs can often be different from stock specs
