Thanks! Here's a LP Custom at a nearby estate sale. Only one pic and not the best quality (sorry), but can you tell from this if it's real or fake?

This is a different one, isn't it ? From an estate, I doubt it would be fake, but from that single pic, it looks OK to me.
It's going to auction ?

No, they usually just price items. Saturday's are usually 25% off and Sundays usually 50% off. But good stuff is gone by Sunday, most times. I've gotten some great deals on furniture and I bought an 87 MIK Squier for $80 that's awesome.

  • the position of the 'h' of Epiphone on the headstock
  • the huge tunerwashers
  • the thick body-binding
better pics may show what it really is

Well, regardless, I think someone got a good deal - they sold it for $125.

I'm always surprised how close they come to making them visually undetectable. But they then miss on stupid little details like EE serial, domed tail piece posts, large tuner washers.

Hey guys
Looking to buy an Epiphone Casino Elitist.
Everything generally ok with one I found. However, the headstock raises an eyebrow.
I checked the serial and found it was made around 2001, but I've seen others made around that time have Grover tuners.
Also, isn't the "Epiphone Elitist" logo on the back supposed to be printed directly on? From the picture, it's clear that the logo is a sticker.

Hi,
Welcome here @ €piTalk

Elitists had not been made in '01 - I think it was made '13 at the Terada factory
IIRC the 'Elitist Logo' should be under the lacquer, though even a sticker could be covered with lacquer.

Thanks for the response.
Do you think it's genuine?
And what about the tuning pegs? They look more like Klusons. Were these still common on fairly recent models?

Yes, I think it's real

it's hard to verify it, cause I never owned one, and the epi site with the pics isn't always up to date
maybe you should send the pics to Gibson/Epi customer-service and ask them to verify it - they should have a list to look up if this serial# matches with the guitar

Hi guys

I'm all new to the world of epiphone guitars. I own a cheap Ibanez and want to upgrade to something a bit better in terms of sound and quality.

To make the long story short, I found this Epiphone custom pro listed in a website for a pretty good price, contacted the guy and he sent me some photos and we decided to meet tomorrow so I can try the guitar.

I just wanna make sure that this is a genuine ephiphone guitar and not fake!! tried to do a lil bit of research which confused me, so I'm still not sure.

I will let you guys decide

Sorry for the amount of photos, I just want to make sure that u guys get every spot

Note: the guy mentioned that he replaced the knobs.

Regards..
