There you go - see what I mean?

It's so easy to get it wrong, both ways! I trust Paruwi's judgement - Thanks Peter :thumb:

It's those subtle differences that get us n00bs every time

Any idea what the extra bar is on the top behind the tailpiece @Paruwi ...?

Just curious if this is genuine or not? It's for sale in a pawn shop here in Sioux Falls. I read somewhere that the Zakk W. Epiphones are one of the most often counterfeited?

Thanks! The "EE" and the binding were what I pointed out to my son, and he wouldn't believe me. :p They're asking $550 for it.

Hi Guys,

So I'm a new epiphone Les Paul owner, I brought this Epiphone Les Paul custom in alpine White from a cash converters over here in england, and decide to purchase it.

After looking at specs online I learn that Les Paul customs have coil split, but when I looked at mine it doesn't have it! Now it might just be me being a noob but does that means it the real deal or is it only on certain years of this model?

Here's some pictures:

@SurfGreen

Hi,
welcome here @ €piTalk

don't worry, your guitar is a bit older, Oct 2006 made at the korean Unsung factory,
IIRC the Customs didn't have the coilsplit back then

Hi all,

Thought I'd drop this Epi LP 60's Tribute Plus in here - there a few things that don't seem quite right to my 'amateur Epi fake spotters' eyes...

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/172774626364

Full disclosure, I own one! So have a little experience of the guitar :D Would appreciate your thoughts before I say what I've spotted?

Asked him a couple of questions about the guitar, so will add the response here when I get it :thumb:

Just thought I'd mention - I was concerned with what he's 'not' telling us in the description, rather than what he is...

So maybe 'fake' is too strong a term, but 'misrepresented' might be more accurate...?

Not as such Peter...

But, have received answers to my questions -

There's no case included, the price he quotes them going for is for the outfit - i.e. With case

The previous owner swapped out some parts, he's admitted that the pickups are 'probably not' Gibson (his words) pickup rings and knobs changed too.

In addition, I asked for better pick of the headstock, and the grovers are (IMHO) non locking - all the Tributes I looked at on ebay (which should have grover lockers as std.) have a groove in the top of the string post, including mine, so I'd bet they have been removed and replaced with non locking ones.

Serial number is an F33..... So a fairly recent one, hence my tuner concerns.

To be fair, the neck repair looks sound enough, but still reckon it's not being advertised too well...

...or have I just got my thumb up my ass? (to quote our US members)... At least I hope that's what I mean!

I think I'm saying, it's probably been bought with a broken headstock, had the good parts removed (possibly pots, caps and switches too?) and replaced with 'std' stuff - apparently Epiphone pickups? and then had headstock fixed, but is now being sold as a Tribute Plus!

Doesn't sit right with me tbh....

Hi

I bought an Epiphone EJ 200 VS acoustic guitar . The headstock is diferent

The name "Epiphone" in the headstock is very diferent from the others

I want to know if my guitar is original .

The serial number says that

Your guitar was made at the
Qingdao Plant (Epiphone), China
on August, 2008
Production Number: 1240

Thank you
