Dave is right - is is a Fake

you can see two signs of Fake rounded studs and location of the screw on the pickguard

18:17
you can see sign #3 wide bodybinding on the top of the guitar and on the headstock

I think grinwer meant that Dave found it a good guitar nevertheless.

Purchased this ES-335 PRO allegedly new ... First the inside label says the guitar is a Dot ES-335 Pro however the neck has rectangular inserts not "Dots"; the neck inserts are not centered and slightly crooked. The serial number on the label inside the left sound hole 311763155 comes up not found. I removed the label, the original serial number on the tag 11061357 comes up as a 1991 Korean made guitar. If I drop the 3 from the label 11763155 comes up the same as a 1991 Korean made guitar. The head stock has no serial number but the labeling says "Handcrafted in China" . After close examination there are a number of minor defects ... the pick guard is bigger than should be for a 335 and the mounting bracket is incorrect (should be adjustable); black paint smear under the lacquer by the right sound hole / neck PU volume knob this was obscured by the "coil tap" label, the knob itself has a small crack. The guitar plays well ... just that something isn't right ... maybe! Any and all input appreciated.

Since 2008 they stopped putting letters in front of the serial. That letter identified the factory. Since they're now all made at the same factory, QingDao in China, there was no need for it anymore.

Yours was made there in June 2011. The sticker you ripped was probably hiding the serial because it was sold as a second, with no warranty.

Edit: I see that Paruwi has responded as I was typing.

Wow great info ... I am aware of seconds and refurbs in general and suspected that may be the case with this ES. The most galling miss was the "Dot ES-335 Pro" tag and the fret board not having "dot" inlays, I wonder what the story is with that? I looked up MIRC and then it clicked. Small world - they are in Franklin, TN not far from where I live. I actually know someone that worked for MIRC and may still. I may just take the guitar up to their place and see what else they can tell me. Thanks again for the help!!!

Hey, guys, this is my first post over here. I'm considering buying an used Epiphone Les Paul and found a few options that are in good condition, some barely used. I've read a ton about fakes and asked around in another forum, but I'd like to make sure before I make the buy.

The model in question is an Epi Les Paul Standard made in Indonesia. It looks legit to my barely trained eye BUT the two things I could nitpick on is 1) the truss rod cover font, "STANDARD" seems to be in bold (although I looked for other pictures of MI Indonesia and some look the same); 2) the shape of the shield near the single cut of the body.

If you guys could help me out it would be awesome, thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum! That looks good to my eye. The pickguard never perfectly follows the cutaway. The truss rod cover could have been replaced, or it’s possibly the original given how clean the guitar is. I’m sure someone else will chime in shortly! :thumb:
