We have to let one survive to tell the tale I suppose.

I am feeling a bit clumsy on the Casino now, which is odd because I anchor my pinky on the bridge pickup anyhow. This gave me a good excuse to play it for a while and enjoy its darker tone. Using my Fender champ 12 I was able to get away with the SD1 pedal for once, as long as my back was to the amp. Sounds mean with the drive. It just gets tricky avoiding the feedback whenever the guitar isn't playing.

Grabbed my custom blackback and tuned it to open G. I've wanted to try this for a while but was afraid that I'd just get frustrated. I'm glad I tried it, holy crap it's fun and easy. I tried it with this guitar since it has push/pull pots, and I can get a pretty close to Stones sound with it.

Removed da poker chip. Not like it's rocket science, 3 positions, I think I can remember that. Chrome switch tip, might go black.

Also switched to black pup rims and black top hats with added O-rings on volume for easier coil split pulling.

The single coils sound really good (Probucker 3 and Alnico Classic).

Not so much “what did I do” as “what did I get” today for my Epiphone. My Throbak SLE-101’s arrived today. I’ll probably have time later this week to install them on my ASF ‘59. I got the guitar cheap and the pickups were a deal as well so I’m fine with experimenting with these replica PAF’s on my Epi.

This ASF LP has already had a complete Faber conversion including an ABR bridge and lightweight tailpiece, a Monty’s wiring harness. I even bought an unoriented A5 magnet because I plan on experimenting with the neck pickup. I may even buy a few more varieties of the Throbak USA made magnets so I can play around with the other Epi’s I have with Burstbuckers.

That’s all for a later post on this thread about “ what I did to my Epiphone today.”

Just played the crap out of it. I can't put this thing down. I have the Les Paul modern with pro buckers. I keep reading about people upgrading the pickups, I don't get it. I realize people have different tastes but as far as the quality of the tone goes, the stock pickups are great. Classic Les Paul tone. Great cleans and awesome drive tones. The only thing I did was lower the pickups to get a tighter bottom end and a little breathing room for better note separation.

Can we hear some of it ?
Don't have a Sound Cloud account, or the time to record two tracks, rhythm and lead, and post it to YouTube for you guys. I'm sure you can find a better version on the internet than what I can bang out in a few minutes. Just search "Moto Perpetuo -Paganini."

Not mine; random internet search.

I did look up some of them. I was curious about your take on it. Short cell phone vid solo guitar would have done it.
