I can't play a Floyd; it's completely out of the question. Can't stand the feel of it. I have the coil splits on my Epi LP Custom PRO, but I don't use it. They make the knobs feel flimsy and cheap. I really just don't even bother. I pretty much just set my knobs at 11 and play...
2016 Les Paul Custom PRO
Pickups:
Neck: Mudbucker-2
Bridge: Probucker-3
Strings: Ernie Ball Super Slinky's (9-42's)
I also have an SG in the Heritage Cherry, but right now, it has some smudges under the layer of dust. I'll have to clean it up a bit.
I forget where I read it, maybe even in here, but I read somewhere that Gibson instructs their retailers to just trash the defected returns instead of shipping them back for repairs. No clue if it's true or not, but I remember reading that somewhere.
Go dumpster-diving out back at Guitar Center...
Agreed. I think that's my favorite too. Then the Black Cherry with the gold trim. I've never really liked any of the Les Paul 'burst' colors. Well, the common, classic ones anyway.
The Prophecy lineup looks impressive, as they come with either EMG's or Gibson 490/498, as well as a case. Sharp looking guitars, too.
Does anyone own one...
I kept hesitating and hesitating to pull the trigger on the 2017 Gibson SG Standard in Cherry Burst for $1,169. It wasn't necessarily the money. Quite frankly, I'm not sure why I never ordered one. They're gone now. I emailed GC and they said they won't be getting any more.
Snooze, you lose...
I was on the Guitar Center site today looking at Epiphones (just looking, you know), and it looks like they actually have several new models out, most being signatures, with most being in the $700+ range. Several were pushing a Grand. :D
Pretty sharp looking. I hope the quality is as good as...
Their top-of-the-line SG is $359, lol. What would they have to do to offer something in the $600-$700 range?
If I could get my Epiphone Custom PRO Siverburst exactly as it is, except in an SG, I'd buy it all day. Same features; same electronics; same everything, just in an SG.
Why don't they...
I think the short answer is that the Epi Alnico Classics aren't even in the same zip code as the Gibson 57's. They're not even close. The 57's completely blow them out of the water. Even the Epi ProBuckers destroy the Alnicos. The ProBucker-3 (bridge position) on my Epi Les Paul Custom PRO...
I've been checking out this one on the GC site. Obviously it looks nice, but I have no idea what the HammerClaws pups are all about. Also, I think the "Signature" stuff is kind of cheesy, but that's probably more of a psychological thing than anything else.
I mean, how do the pups compare to...
