I was jus on ebay searching for CTS Pots and came across this. It seems that make metric pots now, so you don't have to drill to make the holes larger and get new knobs...
I found some NOS orange drop caps 22uf there is no model on the cap only says Sprague .22uf 400vdc +/- 20%, and another seller has Sprague 220P "Orange Drop” Capacitors 200 V .22 uf. Do you guys get the NOS or the new ones? Also what the difference between the 220p and 716p?
I know it sure is clean, most of them this age are all rusty on the brass base of the pickup. I was thinking of swapping the bridge pickup in my sg g-400 which has the alnico classic pickups, its a 1998 model, so I am not sure if the older ones were better then the newer ones sold today.
Yep, Mattress doesn't bother me either other then the spring sticking out.It was on the wifes side but she rotated it and it ended up on my side lol, women always get good and men get crap lol. So out $1200 bucks now, so much for getting another guitar in the near future, probably going to be...
I played it for 4 hours tonight, sounds awesome with the stock pickups, not sure if I should install that SD pickup now. Are these the pro pickups are just the cheap ones, also I forgot to ask what year is this modeled after 1966?
I like maple necks myself. Every guitar I have had since 1986 has had a maple neck. I just bought a used SG G-400 and the neck is mahogany. I know that maple is harder then mahogany and I can tell the difference since I have used maple neck for so long.
oh ok, thanks Scott. I wasn't sure about that. I have owned Jackson, and chavels and kramers and the necks were always straight where they meet the body. They were also bolt on necks except for my charvel.
ok. Just a question can any one with a Epiphone sg G-400 post a picture of the top view where the neck meets the body, on mine it looks like the neck bends back where the neck and body meet if this is an Issue I am going to return the guitar, not sure if its suppose to be like that never owned...
Will it hurt the valve modding the guitar? Not sure about epiphones value in the long run. I mean I have a 1992 MIJ Jackson that is mint condition and stock, and I just wanted to keep it all original. I would assume epiphones resale value probably isn't great. Just wondering if I should upgrade...
Don't the switchcraft switches come with the tip? I was on ebay and a tip is on the switch in the listing photo, do you need to ream out the holes for the switch to fit? I already have caps green NOS NEC chicklet .022uf. I have used these type of caps in many guitars and they came stock in my...
Do you think the 1998 G-400 is worthy of the the 80's SD? Also I was looking at Swiftcraft jacks and what size do I get long or short, and for the stock pots that are in there are the Alpha pots or just no name? If they are alpha not point then buying new ones. What about wiring, what gauge and...
I just talked to that luthier friend of mine and here's what he said about the neck cracks.
If there is no visible movement in the neck, them you should be fine. This can be caused by a number of things and a loose neck isn’t necessarily the problem – if the body and neck expand or contract at...
Has anyone ever removed the cover from the stock pickups? I am just wondering if inside the whole whole is covered in wax. I have seen online some are. I have a vintage 1980's super distortion I was going to install, but not sure yet. I just didn't want it to look weird one chrome and one black...
