We’re one of five states with a record breaking number of cases reported yesterday, and we weren’t among the early foolish rush to are open like other Southern states. Both Memphis and Nashville now have mask ordinances in place, not sure about Knoxville or Chattanooga, as that’s like a different planet from here.

Here’s an interesting factoid - ArtsMemphis surveyed 250 artists and art organizations - including me - in town and the metro area, and based on the survey, artists and art groups have lost $7.4 million as of 30 June. We started shutting down on festivals and markets in mid March. That’s a lot of money for a medium sized metro area in a short time. Or so it seems to me.

So we've been putting returned overseas travellers into isolation in hotels, quarantine for 2 weeks! However they’ve been able to leave for exercise and food (first mistake). Second mistake was to employ unprofessional security guards with no training to monitor the quarantined travellers. It turns out that some of the guards were having sex with some of the quarantined women and now we have a bigger outbreak all around.

Then the men take the disease home to share with their family!

I’d call it criminally irresponsible.

So I'm going to try a different tact today. Cropping and resizing is a bit quicker than copy / paste / format / repeat x4

I'm not going anywhere near the beaches or anything this weekend. The only thing that burns more than the sun down here is the stupidity.

Yeah. This works better.

Oh heck! Catalonia's lifting of restrictions in Spain didn't last long! They've just re-imposed the lockdown restrictions again because of big spikes in covid cases.

LOL Yeah, I'll stick with my news outlets for reliable information, I've no intention of putting our NHS front line staff at risk of the covid virus by going out unnecessarily & risk catching/spreading the virus.
Everyone here in my neck o the woods wears masks & keep social distancing & you soon get told if you encroach into someones space.

Memphis and Shelby County are in the top ten hotspots for the country, and wherever I’ve gone, most people are paying attention, wearing masks and staying distant. I guess it was the timing of the original relaxation of what can be open coupled with some glorious weather in which to get out, but a lot of younger people are getting it and showing symptoms. Damn kids today.

State govt. has just locked down 9 high rise buildings in Melbourne fearing an outbreak among the 3000 or so occupants. This would be a disaster if Covid is loose amongst that many people in close quarters.

My cousin in Clearwater has signs all around his property clearly stating that anyone without mask doesn't get within six feet of his dwelling. Hang in there.

They are calling this “victoria’s Darkest Day” with a huge hike in Covid infections and our border with NSW is slamming shut.

Now referring to this as a second wave.
