I am really just biding my time waiting for my wife to go off to bed so I can play this new beast but in the meanwhile, a few photos. I took the photos of the circuit board because I had to remove it to install all the tubes, plus I just wanted to enjoy the wonderful job Michael Swart does...
Here ya go. If you look closely at the images around the TUMNUS Germanium Deluxe writing, you can see capacitors at roughly 5 o'clock and 11 o'clock as well as the outline of a Klon with three white spots for the knobs at around 1 o'clock. I'll try the pedal for the first time tonight.
I was...
I forgot to post that I bought one of the Wampler Tumnus Deluxe Germanium pedals. Wow, do you thing the name of the pedal is long enough? I haven't even had a chance to take it out of its box but I'll post pictures later when I post photos of the new Swart too.
A Swart STR Tweed arrived in a brown truck this morning. Shortly after that I had to run out and pickup my wife at work. She tested positive for Covid so playtime is on hold for a while.
The Swart is from 2013 and came with a Greyhound GHC70. I have Celestion Blues and was hoping to drop...
I got my DG-335 the day after they were released. I was fortunate in that it arrived in remarkable condition. I think I said it looked like someone, somewhere along the line spent more than a few minutes getting this early production model sorted out before it reached me. I mean, intonation...
Here you have it, in a single exchange we find we live similar basses but most definitely not similar strings. It’s the beauty in what makes the world go round. Best of luck with the Sire. It looks like a keeper to me. Cheers!!!
That's a great bass. I had one on preorder with AMS for what seemed like forever. I finally cancelled and started shrinking my collection of basses. I'll always be curious about Sire but now that I'm mostly playing guitar, I can happily live with my G&L Fallout bass. It's funny, when I was...
I never could bond with the Casino despite really wanting to. I had a Korea model and two made in China. They never lasted very long. I hated the trapeze tailpiece, the necks were too thin and the two Chinese models had cheap bridges with saddles that rattled. It drove me nuts! From my...
Should you choose to, the electronics can easily be modified in an AV or AO.
Usually, the big turn off for most people, when it comes to the AV and AO lines, is the thickness of the neck.
As far as ease of living with the neck, all I can say is my AO is going on 6 years old (I know, it's...
I love the whole '50's vibe with the exception of the 7 1/4" radius. That's why I love my AO as much as I do. I remember everyone trashing the AO's because of its inaccurate radius. Before the AO's, if I wanted a 9 1/2" I'd have had to go to CS to get one. And, from what I had been reading...
Faber was having another holiday weekend sale with 20% off all bridges and tailpieces. I know a good number of you fellow Epiphone aficionados don't feel that Faber hardware represent a real value but for those that do, it's a good opportunity to save a few bucks.
I have the Slash Victoria I...
I just tried a set of Throbak Pure Nickel Round Core strings on one of my guitars. They sound great, feel great and, when bought by the dozen, aren't very expensive. You could always give them a call and ask about the length of the strings to make certain they'll fit your Riviera...
My AO '50's is one of my favorite guitars I've ever owned. I don't think there's a ton of difference between it and the '51 AVII with the glaring exception being the 7 1/4 neck and the tremendous price increase. If you're ok with the price and want the 7 1/4 neck I say go for it. They are...
I think the OP may be talking about acoustic guitars. Like you, I have five IBG models all made between 2021 and 2023. They are all electrics and the las one, a DG-335 was the best made of the group.
I did it yesterday but I’ll post a picture of the finished project.
I installed a pair of Burst Bucker 2&3 pickups on my recently purchased Slash Victoria. On top of that, I removed the A2 magnet from the neck and installed a Throbak an unoriented A5 instead.
Then I made a complete wiring...
I’d say it’s close to the ‘59’s I have. The big difference is the Slash neck is glossy while the ‘59’s are a less sticky matte finish. My Special and DG-335 are a bit chunkier than the Slash but I can live with the glossy neck.
I have wanted an Epiphone Goldtop for awhile and was looking at the 50's model but for $699 it was a bit steep. Even the occasional "blem" was right around $600. The Slash Victoria for $599 with a hardshell case was too good to pass up. I ordered it Thursday and it arrived this morning. I...
I held off on using the UOA5 today. I’m really digging the SLE101’s just the way they are. I wonder what would happen if I dropped two UOA5’s into this extra set of BB’s I have out of my ‘59? I just bought a “Blem” Slash Victoria for $599. It might be the perfect vehicle for some...
